Ruthie and Madi keep sharing great tips to use during this time to keep our families fed while also embracing all that is going on and I love it. I have tried to embrace this same tactic with workouts to do with the family while everyone is learning to love each other on ALL the time the last couple of weeks.
Another lesson I am learning and thriving on as we let go of all the schedules is to listen to my self more, not just my body but my whole self. Last night was a gorgeous evening and my body would have been just fine going on a run, but my heart wanted to slow down and go on a walk. I needed to talk a breather from the kids but I also needed to just slow down and relax. A few weeks ago I would have pushed for a run, I would have analyzed my day, my week and headed out on a run. And I would have enjoyed it, I truly do like running, but I would have missed out on what my heart by pushing it instead of slowing down and breathing.
Letting go of expectations, of the world, of the have-tos has been a teeter totter for me. Some days I feel stuck at the bottom, unable to rise as the confusion pushes me down. Other days it is freeing on top of it all, just being me.
This week is all about respecting your whole self. Yes, get in the workouts, pushing your muscles and your heart is great and your body needs it on a regular basis. But it doesn’t need it constantly, it doesn’t need to be tested and pushed. Sometimes you need to slow down and smell the flowers.
