Sometimes I crave pumpkin pie but lets be honest… I’m not going to eat a whole pie by myself so that’s when the mini Pumpkin Pie Galette comes in handy! Galettes are simple to make and bake in only 25-30 minutes. Then you’ve got hot pumpkin pie that’s just the perfect size! I love to serve galettes for dessert because our pumpkin galettes look fancy enough to have come from the local bakery and I can make them so quick and easy right at home!

What is a Galette?

Galette (from the Norman word gale, meaning “flat cake”) is a term used in French cuisine to designate various types of flat round or freeform crusty cakes, or, in the case of a Breton galette.

Where does a Galettes come from?

The history of Galette dates back to the Neolithic ages, and it is believed that the Galette recipe would have evolved from the ancient practice of spreading thick cereal paste on hot stones. A traditional Galette is mostly made from buckwheat flour, butter, sugar, and eggs in different variations.
