We are baking in the kitchen with Jen from Bakerette today…
I’m a carbo-lovin-queen and her Kneaders Recipe Rosemary Focaccia Bread is totally making my mouth water… YUM!
During a friend’s lunch break, she happened to see a mommy duck and 16 baby ducks (seriously, I’d give her mother of the year award just for having SIXTEEN babies except for what happened next) waddling out of the south parking lot at RSL Stadium and continuing down the sidewalk towards the main entrance. Not sure what they were doing coming out of the south parking lot, possibly watching soccer practice, but they were the cutest things, and that includes my own babies (once again, do not discuss this email with my children. :))
Suddenly, the mommy decides to cross the road and all the babies dutifully follow her. At this point worry sets into my friend for their safety and then she sees Robbie Findley and Joao Plata driving their cars out of the stadium heading right for the little duck family. My friend goes from worry to panic, jumps out of her car and throws herself into the middle of the road waving her arms. Thankfully, they stop and wait for the duckies to cross.
Now safely on the other side of the road, the mommy steps up over the curb to climb the hill…only 3 of the 16 are able to climb up the curb leaving the others stranded. The mommy comes back for them, changes her plan, and they all continue down the side of the road. Several of the stadium staff are now involved in watching, but are afraid to interfere in case it makes the mom reject the babies.
Out of the blue, with all of them watching, the mommy veers to the left and walks over a rain gutter drain. It was like watching a cartoon as the first two made it across and then the other 14 fell into the drain one by one, blindly following each other. Staff tried to pull off the drain cover, but it wouldn’t budge. Then they called in the big guns–the man in charge of the field and grounds. He came out with a huge digger machine (no idea what it is called) and the machine successfully ripped off the drain cover.
Yes, you may all breathe a big sigh of relief that the babies were fine (and that this story is finally over). Needless to say, mommy and ducklings were relocated to lower ground.
I just want you to know that important work is happening at Bakerette at all hours of the day!
Now that the mommy duck and duckies are safe, we can all turn our attention to this wonderful recipe for Kneader’s Rosemary Focaccia Bread featured first on 4Utah.com. This rosemary focaccia bread recipe is just like Kneader’s experts make–crunchy crust, savory flavor, with a lightly salted crust.
