Heather from Heathers French Press has brought us an appley-fall-licious looking recipe that I’m dying to make and eat and enjoy!
I won’t keep y’all waiting any longer…
I cannot believe it’s October already, and I am so happy to be sharing one of my fall favorites with Ruthie today.
Nothing says fall like apples and cider, and one of my all time favorite fall treats is apple butter. Apple butter is almost impossible to find in stores off season, and even during the fall, it’s not always that easy to locate.
It is however, very easy to make. In fact, you only need apples and cider, and a free afternoon. You don’t even have to core or peel the apples.
Here’s what you need to know:
Apple Butter
Ingredients
- quarter 2 pounds of apples {do not core or peel }
- Combine with 2 cups of apple cider
Instructions
- In a large pot boil, reduce the heat, and simmer on low for 30 minutes
- press the apples {they should be very soft at this point} through a fine sieve to remove the core, peel, and seed parts, and return to pot
- bring the purée back to a boil, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 2 hours.
- {make sure to stir occasionally to keep the apples from burning}
That’s all!
Not only is the apple butter delicious on just about anything, your house will smell like fall.
Enjoy!
Heather’s Apple Butter is the perfect fall healthy spread that looks amazing!
