Homemade Buttermilk Syrup is unlike any other syrup!
I really enjoy making homemade syrups rather than buying syrup at the store. And there really is only one reason for that… it tastes SO MUCH BETTER. Wow! The taste difference is just incredible! Spending an extra 5 minutes to whip up mouth watering syrup in the morning is so worth it to me! I personally think that in order to make great food, you just need to be willing to give a little extra time to the cause. 🙂
Oh and warm syrup is soooo much better than cold syrup!! Let’s be honest, on the days where you have to use the store bought syrup for your kid’s Eggo waffle, the least you can do is heat the syrup up for the kid! 😉 Oh my.. now I’m craving a hot waffle with butter and hot buttermilk syrup drizzled all over it!!! Pregnancy cravings are in full swing right now with this little boy weighing 1 lb right now and going on 23 weeks!

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- In a large stock pot combine buttermilk, butter, sugar, and corn syrup over medium high heat, bring to boil.
- Boil for 2 minutes; stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat.
- Add vanilla and baking soda; stirring for 1 minute (syrup will foam).
- Allow to cool slightly and serve.
