Today’s Elk Steak Sandwich with Spicy Mayo Recipe is a mouthwatering way to prepare many cuts of elk and venison meat:
- Elk Steaks
- Elk Backstrap
- Elk Tenderloin
- Elk Chops/Medallions
Tips for cooking elk and venison:
- DO NOT over cook your elk or venison steaks once they reach 130 degrees F; remove from heat immediately
- Allow elk or venison steak to rest for 3-5 minutes under a foil tent
- With this hold over cooking will take place so the temperature will increase; it’s best enjoyed at 135-140 F
- Elk steaks are very lean and will dry out extremely quick so don’t leave them unattended during the grilling

Fit Friday, coming at you!
As a mom with four active kids I have found my days can be exhausting! I have a four year old that is either on or off, and when she is on she is talking at full speed non-stop and jumping everywhere. Life with my seven year old means that you need to be prepared for an impromptu Nerf gun battle at all times. I have a nine year old step daughter that is often asking for an electronic free family day so that her siblings will go outside with her all day to ride bikes, jump on the tramp, swim, and generally explore. My teen is a little easier physically, while she will go on family walks and whatnot she would also be very content just being left to her own devices.
Not a day goes by as mom that I don’t recognize and appreciate my ability to keep up with my kids, even if I don’t really want to.
The majority of the moms that I have trained over the years have all come in with a common goal, it wasn’t to be the hottest mom at the pool or to fit into those skinny jeans, no that common goal was to simply keep up with the kids. My favorite stories of reaching goals had nothing to do with looking hot in the perfect dress, my favorite stories had to do with spending hours on the trampoline with the kids or family vacations that included lots of hiking and bikes rides.
Mom to mom, woman to woman, I implore you to find the important goals. Make goals that help you dig deeper into who you want to be. Make goals that will bring you true happiness and fond memories. These are the goals that will keep you going. These are the goals add depth to your life.
Once you set those goals it will be easier to find ways to fulfill your goals. It will be easier to find the drive to get up and workout. It will be easier to bypass some of the snacks and treats. It will be easier to find your smile.
