Milky Way Cake

Happy Friday everybody!!  I’ve been on my 5 day Fall Break and loving every minute of it 🙂

Jenny from NY Melrose Family is here with us to share a chocolately-baked Milky Way Cake

I’m sure it’s amazing- I know I love a good Milky Way once in awhile 🙂

SO, I’ll let Jenny take it way…

Over at The NY Melrose Family it is our favorite time of year because we are decorating and getting ready for Halloween! This year we will have two trick or treaters, which is so much fun because I get to create two costumes. Last year, Riley was a bumble bee and her Bumble Bee Tutu was just too cute on her. We’re still trying to decide about this year though. Meanwhile, I’m in the thick of planning my absolute favorite part of Halloween, which is the leftover candy!

I’m a huge Milky Way fan as you can see from my Milky Way Cupcakes and now this adorable Milky Way Cake. I will warn you though that this cake is nowhere near healthy. It’s on it’s own little island of mega-calories, but they are so worth it!

Leftover Candy: Milky Way Cake

This cake is actually super simple and includes minimum ingredients. As a busy teacher mom of a preschooler and newborn I take as many shortcuts as possible. I used Pillsbury’s Devil’s Food Cake Mix for the cake and some individually wrapped caramels stuck in the batter as well as on the top for decoration. The frosting is where the punch is and it’s all because of the Milky Way Bites.

I made a single six inch round cake because I used the other half of the batter and frosting for a dozen of my Milky Way Cupcakes. Instead of making a single, you could easily make a two layer cake with frosting in between the layers and the recipe for the frosting {which you can find here} would be plenty for two, nine inch round cakes with frosting in between the layers.
