Y’all know that I have a serious weakness when it come to Dr. Pepper… yes, I know it’s not THAT healthy for me but, I love it anyways!
Now, turn a regular Dr. Pepper into a “Dirty” Dr. Pepper and you’ve got a raving lunatic on your hands (just kidding… pretty much)
AND thus the idea for this Dirty Dr. Pepper Poke Cake has been bouncing around in my head for the past couple of months…
I finally got around to making it and I’m sure you’ll be thrilled with the results! It tastes absolutely divine…
Dirty Dr. Pepper Poke Cake
Y’all know that I have a serious weakness when it come to Dr. Pepper… yes, I know it’s not THAT healthy for me but, I love it anyways!
Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 15.25 ounces chocolate fudge cake mix
- 1 1/4 cups Dr. Pepper soda
- 2 tablespoons lime juice, approx 1 lime
- zest of one lime
- 6 ounces neufchâtel cream cheese
- 3 eggs
- 1 13.66 ounces lite coconut milk
- 1 8 ounces container light cool whip topping
- 1/2 cup toasted sweetened coconut
- Lime Drizzle:
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons lime juice, approx 1 1/2 limes
- zest of one lime
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Coat 9x13 baking pan with cooking spray, set aside.
- In a mixing bowl whip cream cheese until smooth, add eggs one at a time.
- Add cake mix and Dr. Pepper; mix well.
- Add lime juice and zest; mix until smooth.
- Bake 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center removes clean.
- Cool on wire rack.
- Once cake is completely cool-
- Poke cake every 2 inches with the back of a round mixing spoon.
- Shake coconut milk well, evenly pour over cake.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 4-5 hours for coconut milk to soak in.
- When ready to serve add toppings:
- Lime Drizzle:
- In small mixing bowl, cream butter, add 1/2 C powdered sugar; mix in.
- Add lime juice and zest; mix.
- Add remaining powdered sugar; mix until smooth.
- Pour over cake: spread evenly.
- Toast coconut in a small non-stick frying pan on medium high for 4-5 minutes stirring constantly so it won't burn, remove to cool completely.
- Evenly spread cool whip topping over cake and top with toasted coconut.
- Enjoy!
- *keep cake refrigerated until serving

The basic “Dirty” recipe is a couple of squirts of coconut syrup with a lime wedge added into your favorite soda beverage. Me? I like to add Almond Joy Creamer and a lime wedge which makes it taste a little more like an Italian soda.
I’m telling ya, it’ll be all be over with the very first bite of this Dirty Dr. Pepper Poke Cake… you won’t want to share one single piece!
