K… and I also LOVE that there’s not any oil in the cake! The Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake‘s glaze is another story but WOW it’s so good!! (You will be in chocolate heaven)
- Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake
- Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl beat the eggs
- Sift in the box of cake mix
- Add the cherries
- Mix for 2-3 minutes until combined
- Spray a 9×13 baking dish
- Scrape sides of bowl and pour into pan, smooth out
- Bake 350 for 30-35 minutes or until center springs back with light touch. Cool on rack and make glaze.
- Ingredients for Chocolate Glaze
- In a small sauce pan melt butter and add sugar
- Add milk stirring continually over medium low heat until comes to a boil
- Stir boiling for 1 minute and remove from heat
- Add chocolate chips
- Stir unitl smooth
- Pour onto warm cake and spread evenly
- Swirl back and forth, glaze will set as cake cools
- Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake!

Chocolate Covered Cherry Cake...

Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 devils food cake
- 1 can, 21 oz cherry pie filling
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure almond extract
- Glaze:
- 1 C sugar
- 1/3 C butter
- 1/3 C whole milk
- 1 C semi- sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Pre heat oven 350 degrees
- Spray 9x13 pan. Set aside.
- Mix cake ingredients on low for 1 minute.
- Pour into pan.
- Bake 30-35 minutes or until cake springs back in center when lightly pressed.
- Glaze:
- In a small sauce pan over medium low heat, melt butter, add sugar and milk.
- Bring to boil, boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat.
- Add chocolate chips, stir until melted.
- Pour on cake, will firm when cools.

I wasn’t so sure when you told me had a can of cherry pie filling in it, but it was really yummy. The cherries really complimented the chocolate. And it was super moist.
