How our garden grows
Week 11
You’ll be surprised how much our little garden has grown over the past couple of weeks!! It’s really taken off- so we want to give you a tour 🙂
The first picture is of our summer squash plants and some cute sunflowers! The sunflowers are supposed to grow really tall…. we’ll have to keep watch on them and see what they do!
In week 6 we showed you how we trellis tomatoes, cucumbers, and cantaloupes… here is a current photo of how our trellised tomatoes look. We weave them back and forth up the trellis as they grow!
We have a ton of green tomatoes, in another week or so we’ll start getting ripe ones 🙂 Nothing quite as good as garden fresh tomatoes!! Our cherry tomatoes are well on their way- in fact we’ve gotten a hand full of ripe ones 🙂
Our zucchini and yellow squash, on the other hand, are growing like crazy!! We’re already giving it away…
Here is some of our basil… a little trick to keep it happily growing- cut off the tops when it flowers. This will stimulate the plant to keep producing leaves, which gives you a longer growing season!!
In this picture on the trellis is cantaloupes, in the bed is onions and chard…
In the first bed we have peppers (which are always a little pokie growing), tomatillo’s, egg plants, and basil!! That pretty much wraps up the back yard…
Here are some photo’s from the front yard!
These photo’s are of our gigantic banana squash plant… it’s pretty much going to take over the garden down front!!
These are our watermelon plants… we grow a smaller variety where we live so they have a chance to ripen, since we live in a 7b gardening zone… we use Sugar Babies or Crimson Sweet seeds! AND I can’t tell you how amazing they are… just WONDERFUL 🙂
We planted our corn in phases about a week apart because we like to enjoy it over time…
This photo is of our first corn we planted about Mother’s Day it has tasseled out…
The last of our corn is has just sprouted…
AND this is a photo of our lower gardens- as of yesterday!!
Thanks for coming on this tour of How our garden grows… it’s crazy how fast it’s taken off!
Love,
Ruthie
