It was the stunning and timeless Marilyn Monroe who once said, “Put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.”
I LOVE THAT! As a lipstick wearer, lover, AND hoarder, I believe in its ability to combat the forces of evil! When I’m feeling glum, I put on a bright red lipstick. It brings something vibrant and sassy into an otherwise “gray day.” When I’m feeling perky and energized, I reach for a bright pink tube! I’ve even been known to wear lipstick while scrubbing my grimy toilet. Seriously! It makes me feel sort of sexy while doing a menial, dirty uninteresting task. Sort of. (*Insert my giggling here.*)
See? Its use for good in the universe should not be underestimated!
Recently, I made some new lipstick discoveries–real treasures in the wonderful world of makeup. And when I find something fabulous, I have to share it! Here are some of my current favorites:
1.) Maybelline’s Color Whisper in Orange Attitude. “Can you wear orange lipstick?,” you might be asking. I’m here to say, “Yes! Yes, you can!” Especially this one. Similar to a tinted lip balm, the color on this one is sheer and pretty. Not too bright, not too orange. It’s application? Smooth like buttah! It’s perfect for summer, reminding me of citrus fruits and July sunsets.
2.) Sephora Collection’s Rouge Cream Lipstick in “Mmmm.” Oh ma gosh, you guys, the color is beautiful! It’s a muted, sandy pink shade that is pink enough to make you feel girly, but neutral enough that most women can wear it. I’ve seen it on several friends with varying skin tones and it looks great. I adore it!
3.) L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Balm in Nourishing Nude. This one is for the ladies who like to keep their lip wear light and neutral! Goodness, it is so feminine and lovely. After trying “Nourishing Nude,” I ran back to the drugstore for more from this line. More tinted lip balm than lipstick, and excellent for everyday wear. I keep this little treasure in my purse!
