Her Side Table Makeover is an awesome tutorial so you can do it yourself too…
Hello Friends! Today I want to show you my side table makeover. Some times I wish I had the budget to go and buy brand new furniture, but I’ve made the decision to try and change my old things into something that’s fresh and current.
What do you think?
Here’s what my table looked like before. It’s not bad, but I wanted something a bit more farmhousy. (That’s a word right?) I originally got it from a thrift store years ago and it looked brand new. It’s sturdy and heavy and has a lot of life left in it.
First I painted it in a red latex that has primer in it to match some other decor items I have.
Then I purchased some 1″x4″ pine and had it cut into the correct size for the top of my table. I sanded them well and then stained them by rubbing on Minwax Wood Finish Stain in the color Early American.
When the boards were dry I placed them on the top of the table where I wanted them and wood glued them down. I also screwed them down with 1 1/2 inch screws. I like the rustic look they give. I could always putty the holes if I decide to later.
That it! So easy. It looks great in our family room.
Here’s some other makeover ideas.
