We lived in Texas when my kiddos were little, in fact two of my kids are Texas born. We loved living there and really loved the people and hospitality of the south! Southern Black Beans and Rice Recipe reminds me of the years we spent enjoying it all.

Five reasons to eat more beans:

1- The fiber in beans helps you feel full faster and prevents overeating.

2- Beans are an excellent (and inexpensive) source of protein.

3- They can lower your cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack.

4- Beans have a positive affect on blood sugar, giving you long-lasting energy!

5- They protect you from some cancers!

Now, I know that some times beans give people a bit of a negative (gas-sy) experience BUT, the more often you incorporate them into your diet the easier it becomes on your system and that negative soon becomes a non-issue!!

(Also Beano really does work!) There are so many obvious benefits to eating more beans that it’s worth the process! : )
