Aw, resolutions.
I remember one year I had every good intention to set some New Year’s resolutions. (I’m a believer in resolutions, and feel that setting goals is healthy and necessary!) Every night, as my weary head hit the pillow after a long, busy day, I would think, “Pull out a notebook and write down some goals. Do it before you fall asleep. Then you’ll have some goals on paper. ” And every morning I would wake up to the crisp, clean, white pages of that very notebook.
I confess I did not set any New Year’s resolutions until JULY of that year! JULY! That was how long it took me to “get around to it!”
Here’s the thing, friends… I think special and significant dates that come around every year are actually important. Why? Because they help us measure progress in our lives. Anniversaries might be good times to evaluate your relationship with your spouse. Birthdays are excellent days to make note of the meaningful things you learned in the past year. (After all, the adage is: Another year older AND wiser, right?) And New Year’s Day is a perfect time for reflection and resolution; to set some goals and change for the better.
So this year, I am on the ball! (Not the ball that drops in Times Square…HA!) I am not going to wait until the sweltering heat of summer to set some goals for myself. Here are my 2015 resolutions, more or less:
Worry less. Stress less. Yell less. Criticize less.
Pout less. Assume less. Fear less. Complain less. Begrudge less. Doubt less. Shame less. Regret less.
Laugh
more. Read more. Hug more. Sleep more. Exercise more. Write more. Pray more.
Serve more. Smile more. Kiss more. Forgive more. Praise more. Love more.
What will you do MORE or LESS of in 2015? Happy, happy New Year!

I love how you started setting goals when it worked for you. Instead of rushing to set some, just because it’s the start of a new year.
