DIY Message Board

Good morning everybody!  Dru from Polka Dot Poplars is here with us today.

She’s sharing an adorable DIY Message Board tutorial with us!

I’ll turn it on over to her…

Hi Everyone! Mother’s Day is just two days away so I thought I would post a gift idea that is easy, practical, and fun. I think any woman in your life would appreciate a cute message board made especially for them by you.

I like using a 5″x7″ or 8″x10″ sized frame. You will need to have a frame that has glass. Depending on the look you want you can paint the frame or leave it the way it is. I spray painted mine, but you could Mod Podge yours with fabric or paper or cover it with buttons or other small items.

Cut a piece of paper or fabric the size of the glass. You will want to use a lighter paper or fabric so when you write on the glass it will be easily read. Place the glass in the frame, add your fabric or paper, and then attach your backing piece. If you’re using fabric you may need to lightly adhere it to the back piece to keep it from shifting. I usually add a bit of hot glue to each corner that will be covered by the frame. That’s it. I also like to add an embellishment or two to personalize it a bit.

I hope this gives you an idea for a gift. Be sure to add a special message to the board and a dry erase marker.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Here’s another gift idea recently posted on our blog.
