She has brought an adorable project to share with us… Touches of Gold and I’m lovin’ it!

I’ll turn it on over to her….

Have you noticed that gold is a hot color right now to decorate with? I love it! It doesn’t take much gold to really brighten up a room and you can do it yourself simply with just a few supplies.

Here I painted a piece of burlap with an ivory acrylic paint and then let it dry. I then traced a heart and filled it in with school glue and added glitter. When it’s completely dry glue the burlap to a canvas or board for a sparkly piece of art.

Have you ever tried gold leaf?

You can find gold leaf and gilding adhesive in most craft stores. Here I found an adorable stencil and traced it onto a canvas. Using a paint brush fill in the tracing with the gilding adhesive and let dry for about 15 minutes. When it’s tacky to the touch lay your piece of gold leaf on top of the adhesive and burnish with a burnishing tool. Move the gold leaf around the image and burnish until completely covered. Using a soft bristled brush sweep away the excess gold leaf. Finish drying.

Another option is using foil transfer sheets instead of gold leaf. You can also find these items in the craft store.

I love adding encouraging words in my decor. Here I’ve written the word “happy” with my gold pen, matted it with gold paper, and framed it in a gold spray painted frame. Could it be any easier?

And finally, what is St. Patrick’s Day without a little gold. Below I printed out a shamrock in the size I needed, traced it onto a gold metallic sticker sheet, cut it out, and applied it to the charger plate. You could also use vinyl.

If you have been thinking about adding gold accessories around your home do it! The possibilities are endless.
