Leave your lettuce heart in place , remove any brown leaves, rinse in water, put in plastic bag. It will stay fresh much longer. Just remove leaves as you need them. Enjoy ????????

Well, I just wanted to tell Ruthie that the heavier a lettuce head is does NOT mean there’s more lettuce. It’s heavier because there’s more core to it than lettuce leaves. The larger, lighter heads have less core and therefore more lettuce leaves. Best tip would be to find the lightest heads.
