Chat with Ruthie

I had an interesting experience last weekend, my daughter Kate and I ended up watching a Lab puppy that wasn’t thriving with his liter.  As we tried to keep this little guy fed and warm… we had to work together to try and be all this little puppy needed, I learned a lot through this experience.

First, I learned that my daughter is pretty incredible… she has volunteered a vet clinic a lot over the past 5 years and she knows quiet a bit about animals.   She’s also very compassionate and kind.   Kate stayed up all night trying to give the puppy comfort. (and only woke me up 4 times to help)  We worked hard to try and help this tiny little guy, even called my vet friend for ideas, but he’d just cry and cry.

Next I learned that no matter how much you try to help, sometimes it’s just not meant to be… the little puppy didn’t make it.  We were very sad.   As I tried to help reacquaint the puppy with his mom and attempted to get the little guy to nurse, it was obvious that something was wrong with our little runt.  He didn’t live too much longer after the attempted reunion.  This whole experience gave me some things to think about…  I’ve had close friends and family loose children at very young ages, or go through divorce, or loose a spouse, or go through horrible car accidents, or deal with super hard things,   CUZ… in one way or another we all have hard “stuff”.

I believe things happen for a reason… I believe that we won’t be given more than we can handle and however hard, it forces us to grow and become better people.  I’ve been through my fair share of  “stuff” and for some reason I feel like I need to share some of it with you all.  So, I’m starting my “Chat with Ruthie” weekly post to give that part of me a platform, in hopes that what I share will somehow help someone else out there that might be going through  similar “stuff”.  (AND I’m sure there will be plenty of normal life too!)

Love,

Ruthie

Hi Cheryl! Thanks for reading my blog… it was sad. I’m glad we and our neighbors tried to help the little guy so he a least had a shot.
